Dinner Party
Who: Zelda, Jessup, Abelinda (Clayton, Maria, Lily and Francis)
Where: Greene house above the barber shop
When: Dinner time!
Status: Incomplete
Abelinda huffed as she looked back at her son and husband. "Put some clothes on him!" Huffing again she threw her hands up in the air, "You're going to make me burn everything, get moving! Andele Jessup!" Taking off her apron she threw it in the general direction of his face she turned back to the stove. Looking into the oven she pulled out the Mexican cornbread and smiled. Golden brown on top and light brown on the sides and bottom, just the way she needed it. She had went a little light on the peppers within it, just for their guests.
"I'll have extra peppers and salsa put out by your plate." Again she glanced over at Jessup as she shook the frying pan with all the chicken and peppers and onions. She liked cooking them together at the last minute. Calling over to Maria she asked her whether or not she had remembered to tell their guests the time of the dinner, must have been for the thousandth time. She smiled as Maria rolled her eyes and gave her an affirmative answer.
"He's tryin' to take them off faster than I can put them on him." Jessup called back, shaking his head as he tried in vain once again to dress their squirming six month old boy. "I'm hurryin'." He sighed, eying her apron as it fell a few feet away from him. "Momma's gotta work on her aim." He smirked down at Francis, giving the baby a wink as he finally managed to pull the boys clothes on. It seemed that even at this young age Francis was always trying to pull his clothes off quicker than any of them could dress him.
Picking up Francis he held the unhappy bundle close to him, bouncing him slightly. "Alright." Jessup watched her for a moment, and then looked over at to Maria as her mother questioned her once again. He gave his eldest girl a wink and walked into the kitchen. He stood behind his wife, "Calm down, everything's going to go just fine. It always does." He continued bouncing Francis, and took a step back. "Anything else you need me to do?"
"Just like his father!" Abelinda said with a roll of her eyes, "Not fast enough! They'll be here any minute." She was running out of time. Biting her bottom lip she smiled a little. At least they would be fed good food. The tortillas had been ready for a while, thin and soft. She had even made some chips to go with extra salsa and a goat cheese dip. She hoped that they liked it. Eying her husband she raised a brow at him, "Not even going to pick up my apron so I can properly hit you with it?"
Smiling at her son she made a cooing noise at him, kissing the air around his cheeks. As Jessup pulled back she snorted and went back to settling everything down. It was done. Putting everything in the serving platters she lifted a shoulder, "If the table is set then everything is ready."
Jessup raised a brow, and blinked innocently at his wife. "I have no idea what you're talkin' 'bout, but if you'd like to play that game..." He smirked over at her, and lifted a shoulder. "And it'll be alright, see? He's dressed." He shook his head at her, "Why no. Why would I do somethin' stupid like that?" He chuckled softly shaking his head and watched his wife.
If I only got half of that sort of attention... He thought to himself, and chuckled. "Lily and Maria set the table. Everythin' is in order, just got to wait on them." Moving back to where he'd dressed Francis bent over to retrieve her apron before he sat down in his chair. Shifting Francis to his knee he tossed the apron over to his wife as he bounced their son on his knee. "He's startin' to teeth really good now." He eyed Francis as he chewed on his fist and drool started to dribble down his chin.
Abelinda snorted, feeling a little heat rise to her cheeks that wasn't from the stove. Rolling her eyes mostly at herself she sighed. Setting everything out except the fajita fixings so they could stay warm until the last minute, she surveyed her dinning table and smiled. "Good." Ushering the girls to sitting down she patted some free strands of their hair back and gave them kisses on tops of their heads.
Looking at Jessup then their son she nodded, "Good, might need to make him a cloth ring so he won't be chewing on me." Picking a pepper out with a clean fork she let it cool before handing it to Francis. "You best be on good behavior." The hawk-eyed look and words were to her husband.
