Lissa answered the door with no small amount of trepidation. It was entirely possible that there would be an entire phalanx of Guardians standing on the other side, waiting to haul her and Rose unceremoniously back to St. Vladmir's and punish them for running. The things Jill said made no sense. Who would murder the Queen? And how could Lissa have possibly been elected to replace her?
When she found only a girl who was obviously Moroi waiting on the other side, she breathed a bit easier. This didn't guarantee that she hadn't ratted them out to the rest of the Moroi community, but it was a good start.
"Jill," she said, giving the girl a nod. "Please, come in and have a seat." She tossed a quick look over her shoulder at Rose, hoping her friend would also relax now that she saw this girl was not an immediate threat.
