CNN Top Story: New Medical Bill before the Senate
Open to reactions
----
(Trish Tilsby reporting)
Our top story, is of course, the latest medical bill set before Congress is far more aggressive and ambitious than it's previous incarnations. This one seems to be swinging for the fences, folks. Instead of a health care public option, which has been shot down numerous times due to ambiguous wording and dissatisfaction on both the Left and Right, the 'Care for All' proposal ignores insurance companies completely. Instead, it would make not getting 'reasonable treatment' for whatever condition a person has illegal. Similarly, it would outlaw the refusal of 'reasonable treatment' by a hospital or medical center, forcing the medical community to give patients the care they need regardless of insurance conditions.
Now, while this does sound extreme, the bill has a very carefully tought out and worded definition of 'reasonable treatment' to keep people from breaking the law, should it pass, if they are just going in for breast augmentation or something equally non-life threatening.

More on that as it develops and details of the bill are released. Obviously, the Senate wants to get first crack at it.

In other medical news, the World Genetics Council is set to meet one week before the Mutant Registration Act goes to vote. Rumors have been spreading, and according to one of our sources this one is true, that a reclusive geneticist, Doctor Harold Jordan, has found a 'cure' for human mutation and will be presenting his findings during the highly anticipated medical summit. The location of the summit this year is being kept under wraps due to these rumors and the fear of riots over the possible announcement, though as the country was already known before the security lock down, it's likely that many will still make their way to Spain in the hopes of attending unannounced.
We have not yet been able to get ahold of Doctor Jordan, but we hope to in the near future. What we do know is that Doctor Jordan received a Bachelors of Genetics from Johns Hopkins in 1983 and his Doctorate in 1991. He has been doing private funded research since and until this announcement has contributed only a few essays to the medical community through such publications as Genetics Today and the New England Journal of Medicine. Peers in his field that we've been able to speak to have all unanimously agreed that he is quote, Brilliant.

Well, that's a certainly a vote of confidence.

We'll be back after these messages.
