A month. That was good. Jai wasn't proud of it, but he did relax a little inside. He could deal with the magic of this place (and by deal, that meant 'ignore it as much as possible'), but trying to interact with people who were really sixty and looked twenty... he still doubted himself at every turn. Supposedly it would get easier to deal with in time.
"Yeah, for a little over six months now," he answered. He found himself wondering what Nisha had done to end up at the hotel. He knew the secret, of course. No one, no matter how friendly and polite they seemed, checked into this place without a reason. He supposed that more than anything should have encouraged him to keep his distance from the guests, but it didn't work. It was not hard to imagine things going just slightly differently and having his name on the guest list instead.
