It might still be early in the day but Aiden saw the way her eyes were red-rimmed. He didn't know what the matter was but he knew that something had her upset. Aiden wasn't always one to notice what someone wore but he'd realised that she wasn't in her uniform as he rarely saw her in anything else. It was a nice change to see her in something different. As for everything else it barely factored in, he hadn't really noticed that she didn't have make up on or that her hair wasn't in one of her usual neat styles. To him she just looked like a normal woman who was upset about something.
He waited a moment as she straightened her skirt and seemed to try and pull herself together. Aiden could tell that something had her shaken up, he just didn't know what it was or even if she'd tell him. He wasn't going to push her into telling him but he hoped their friendship meant that she knew that she could talk to him if she wanted to. When she spoke he listened, he picked up the way her voice faltered and it only confirmed what he'd already started to figure out, that she wasn't feeling like her normal self.
"I think it gets to everyone at some point," he said softly. "We wouldn't be human if it didn't." When she asked him the question it almost threw him. Aiden knew that many staff members had at one point been guests but he'd been unaware that Cora was a former guest. "No, I didn't know that."
