Now that Jack has woken she goes to the opening and orders one of the children. He can't stop staring at Jack with an open mouth so the woman gives him a shove before he goes on his way.
A man comes, dark and with Jack's high cheekbones. His chest and chin are bare of body hair. The man wears a scarf about his forehead just like Jack. They could be brothers but he doesn't seem to be considering the likeness between them. He comes into the hut and stands with his arms crossed over his chest, not hiding the fact he's watching over Jack, guarding his family.
The tribe has been under siege by the french and spanish. Jack looks much more like them then any of those hairy white men. So they took him in even though the man was in one of their boats when he was found. He tries to question Jack in his own language while the woman looks on from behind him, bouncing the infant in her arms.
