The girl stares at her hand in shock and even some of the adults seem very very concerned over what just happened. The other children grab her hand to look at it, asking in fast high voices if the man bit her. She's not sure and stares at the back of it as well looking for signs. The adults who saw this kiss and recognize it as one aren't familiar with it being done on the hand or to children at all. So the ones that don't stare with confusion at Jack's freaky antics are laughing so hard they're in tears. It's now official. Jack is the village idiot.
Later there is work to be done so most of the people chased off my Jack's surrogate mother stay gone. The children, after deciding he doesn't bite, still hang about. One girl braids bits of Jack's hair as he eats. His biggest fan, the little girl from before has brought Jack a toy doll and sits next to him, telling him a very involved story about her hair and why she's almost bald. The doll is very colorful, painted blue, orange, red, and black, and made from carved wood with feathers for hair.
