It's comforting to see that these men are utterly fucking useless. Jack likes to the see how universal incompetence is. He looks back and forth between the two men as they speak looking alternately confused, contemplative, and thoughtful. He gives the occasional slight nod as he considers their theories about both himself and Anaba. Real sharp wits, these two. Obvious men of intellect. Jack's very sorry Anaba has to wait through all this. However, the pirate beams inwardly when his native girl takes the initiative and makes her move to retrieve the compass. He gives a silent hiss and winces in empathy when her hand gets caught, but when the soldiers attention moves back to him again he puts on a blithe smile. That native girl is clearly insane and just digging for insects like an ape. Yes.
"I assure you, I'm no pirate. Just a merchant Captain. Took this savage on as a slave when I found her. Best to have a guide in strange lands, is it not?" He does his very best to resist laughing as they discuss the potential dangers of strange and exotic genitalia. Instead, Jack looks at them with a grave and knowing expression. The sort of look an old soldier has when he gets to discussing the horrors of war.
'Are there teeth?' he's asked. The mention seems to send Jack into terrible flashbacks and he shudders. He looks to Anaba, then back at the men, shielding his words from her with the back of his hand. "Like a badger, and twice as angry. Not bad, if you don't mind the terrible pain... and the infection."
He looks as if he's ashamed of the horrors that have so obviously befallen his cock. Jack waves Anaba to him again and snaps his fingers. "Come now, love. Best we were off."
If they want to think him a fop, then so be it. Better that than pirate. Even if it is disheartening not to simply be recognized. "If your camps liable to think me a pirate, perhaps it's best if we were simply on our way. Another of my shipping fleet will be round soon to look into my disappearance no doubt. Good luck in your endeavors, men. Hope you find gold, if that's what you're after. I've not seen a speck of the stuff since my arrival."
