Simon barely had a few seconds to feel a little happy thrill to hear Gibs be protective of him before he yelled out again. It was like seeing the scene unfold in slow motion as he turned to see Kyle bounding towards one of the exploding Sentinels. He gasped and called out Kyle's name in a terrified voice. "NO! Kyle!" He had to keep moving, however, because one of the remaining Sentinels was already adapting and another blast of that heinously painful disruptor ray came at him. He too adapted, and was ready for it this time, so he phased in time for it to miss him. "Sonofabitch!" he growled ineffectually at the thing. They made me hurt Kyle!
He nearly fainted from relief when Gibs laughed it off and bounded away, seemingly unhurt. It reminded Simon that the Wild Child had a healing factor. He, on the other hand, didn't, so he'd better watch out for himself, the saner side of him pointed out. He could see one of the half destroyed Sentinels busy trying to repair itself. They needed to finish this.
Then one of the Sentinel arms lying on the floor started shooting blindly, but with uncanny accuracy, at the mutant life signs in the room. Simon phased into the floor once again, and surfaced just under it. He grabbed the disembodied arm with both hands and pointed it at the remaining Sentinels. It was hard to aim, with the arm trying to double in on itself to shoot Simon point blank, but he managed to cause some major damage to a couple more of the remaining functional robots. He was especially relieved to take out the disruptor cannon.
