"Everyone is," Isabel noted quietly as she tapped the name into the keyboard. Her blinking slowed almost to stopping as she read what was presented on the screen.
"Shaw," she repeated. "Ah, late appointment. Special Ops authorization." The nurse didn't seem to be terribly surprised by this idea. She had been working with the Doctor at the Clinic for several years, so it wasn't the first time she had seen that particular authorization code.
"Please," she indicated the chairs close to the desk. "Have a seat. I'll let him know that you're here and he'll be out for you in in a moment." Keep up the professionalism, even as she twitched. Then she rose from her seat and disappeared into the back.
The Doctor sat at his true office desk, eyes closed and hands on the desk in front of him. It looked rather like he was actually meditating.
"Doctor Milbury, Stephanie Shaw has arrived."
"Thank you, Isa," he didn't open his eyes to speak to her. Instead, he drew in a deep breath while waiting for the nurse to go away again. She went back to the front and he stayed a few minutes longer, just letting his nerves settle completely. Stephanie Shaw was a young woman of some consequence and speaking with her might allow him to get some idea of how the elder Mrs. Shaw was doing after her surgery.
