Dr. Milbury had done the entire autopsy himself, looking for any anomaly. Yet after taking Jamie apart, putting him back together, running all necessary toxicology reports, and even considering things that were such far stretches as to be impossible, the only answer he could come up with was that he had a heart attack.
Most accelerated mutants stood a high risk of organ problems, but that was simply because if their tissues didn’t complete the mutation, they were susceptible to damages to their hearts, lungs, livers, all the major organs. Yet Jamie had been perfectly healthy at his last physical six months ago. So it left more questions they didn’t have answers to. That meant going through everything Jamie had been exposed to in order to make sure it wasn’t something he had picked up from elsewhere. Every mission he’d gone on…and even dragging in every member of the team for up to date physicals. There was no way they could allow others to fall to the same problem.
Standing in the doorway, holding a manila envelope, he looked like a man who had been very busy over the last few days. His shirt a touch rumpled, though hardly enough for most to even notice.
“You said you wanted this as soon as I was finished.” He stepped up to Storm’s desk and slid the file across to her. “After looking at the evidence, I think the entire team needs to be pulled for new physicals to rule out anyone else possibly being ill.”
