Simon literally didn't even see what hit him. He let out a loud, startled yelp, his power useless to avoid the initial impact. Instinct kicked in, however, and he avoided further injury by phasing through Kyle as they fell, so that he wasn't crushed under the bigger male's weight. "Damnit!" he cried out, angry at himself, at his date, and at careless people who didn't look where they were going. "You almost killed me!"
He partially phased into the ground and righted himself by inches, looking down at the other man. Even in his phantom form, he could feel his body's aches and pains. The hunky blond who had slammed against him must be pure muscle, because he felt like he'd been hit by a truck. If he hadn't phased through him, he might have broken bones against the hard asphalt. "Ow. Are... are you okay?" he asked, remembering the grunt. "I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going."
There was something awfully familiar about the young man, but Simon still couldn't see his face under all that long, messy blond hair.
