After sending his notes off to Longbottom, Adrian had spent the rest of the morning out in the woods surrounding the Manor, scavaging for fungi and leaves and sticks. It was one of his favorite bits about potionsmaking. The quiet, the scents, the little details. He wasn't always so keen on the dirtiness of it, but he'd gotten accustomed to it over the years. He came back to the grand old house sweaty and dirty and had hopped in the show just before 2, changing from shorts and a ratty old tank top into more acceptable attire - he didn't bother much for formal attire these days, not since he'd left the UK for the war.
The Manor was coming along very well, though the greenhouses hadn't even been touched - years of overgrowth and weeds and taken them over and he knew he needed to make time back there, but he simply hadn't had it yet. Well, Neville wouldn't be seeing the greenhouses, anyway. Draco hadn't even come into the house when they'd gone flying. He hadn't had anyone else over since moving back across the pond.
He really did need to get out more, and not just to the woods, alone.
It was just after two when his House Elf, Corbey, had come around to his suite of rooms and let him know that Mr. Longbottom had arrived.
Corbey wasn't really Adrian's House Elf. Adrian's grandmother, Constance, had left Corbey to Adrian and Sera when she'd passed. Sera had immediately given the creature a little pair of jeans and a muggle t-shirt to wear, and the boy had refused to leave. He'd been with the family since Constance was just a girl, it seemed, and liked them well enough (though was quite fearful of Constance's husband, Mitchell, the current family patriarch, who was living somewhere unplottable in Brazil at the moment). He was very nice and had a little home just behind the main house all of his own and so as far as Adrian was concerned - Corbey had it quite good for a House Elf.
Adrian thanked him and asked him if he would mind getting them some tea together, and Corbey disappeared into thin air with a smile and a nod. Adrian headed down to the main entrance of the manor and greeted Neville with a small smile and a handshake. "Please, come in," he said, indicating a smaller parlour off the side of the grand foyer. He had some publicly acceptable volumes of old potions books and herbology texts lining the walls and a sofa and tea table for entertaining clients. This used to be where his father did this sort of thing. Adrian hadn't quite gotten to where it felt like his yet and if you knew him well enough - not that anyone did - you would have been able to tell in the set of his shoulders. He sat and invited Neville to do the same, and then Corbey appeared with tea and biscuits for the men. "Thank you Corbey, we'll be good for a while, then," he said, dismissing the Elf.
