Hyperion had a bit of time before he needed to head into work, and he'd decided he wanted to spend that time visiting his sister in the hospital. As much as he hated seeing her there, it was better than what he'd originally feared. Because the fact was, he'd been positive she wasn't going to make it, and he wasn't sure he could cope if he lost another sibling--especially Pandora.

It was early yet, which is why he had some tasty breakfast pastries (much better than what the hospital served) to bribe his sister with, certain she wouldn't be thrilled with the early wake-up if she wasn't already awake. But there were some things he needed to tell her, and he didn't want to wait until tonight to do so. Perhaps he should let their mum tell her, but he'd asked for it to be him, and Eugenia had agreed it might be better that way.

After a friendly wave and good morning for the healer on duty, Hyperion slipped into Pandora's room, only slightly disappointed that she was still asleep. As he settled on the stool next to her bed, he lifted the top off the pastry box and used his wand to direct the scintillating scents toward her.

Dora had been recovering, if slowly. She had her good days and her bad days, the latter of which were what kept her in the hospital rather than in prison awaiting a trial. It was always just a bit difficult to tell which it would be when she awoke, for her moods were even more mercurial than usual since Hyperion had retrieved her from her craze upon the Hogwarts field of battle. But he was, at least, somewhat used to her, even if things tended to be a bit more extreme than they had while they grew up.

But he, at least, she trusted, and there were dreadfully few people she did so. It was a testament that she did not immediately wake when he entered the room, because she sensed it was him. However, the scintillating scent of pastry made her stir, and her pale eyes slitted open as she assessed her surroundings. She audibly grumped at him when she ascertained he was alone.

"Earrrrly," she mumbled.

He might have felt guilty about waking her up so early if it wasn't so important and if he hadn't brought the treats to ease the worst of her potential temper. As it was, Hyperion didn't feel guilty, and he even went so far as to smirk when she grumped at him. "Good morning, love. I brought breakfast sweets," he pointed out in a tempting tone, giving the little box a shake.

It wasn't like he was going to dump her trial date on her the moment she woke up. Though he did want to tell her before the owl from the Ministry arrived. Hence, the early morning wake up.

The one nice thing about having a brother who was an auror, now that she was officially labeled a bad guy, was he could at least come see her whenever he wanted, pretty much. The guards didn't care, the healers all loved him. So while she couldn't sneak away to see him as she sneaked away from the death eaters, at least she knew he wouldn't leave her completely alone.

"You mean you brought bribery," she grumbled, though half heartedly, as she pushed herself slowly up. Her left arm was still bandaged over her Dark Mark, which shortly after her arrival here last month she'd taken the sharpened edge of a spoon to in a fit of... something. She didn't remember it very clearly. They continued to leave it bandaged because she had a terrible habit of picking open the scabs without realizing she did it. Her right hand went up through her short hair, though she intended to grow it out to its former longer beauty once she knew where she was headed to -- Azkaban or home, or at least whatever home was left to her.

"Gimme gimme," she said imperiously, almost like the bossy sister she'd always been.

Hyperion jerked the pastry box back in exaggerated defensiveness, his fuller bottom lip pouting jokingly. "Bribery, she says! Bribery! As if I've got to bribe anyone ever for anything," he griped in humor that was far too pronounced for such an early hour. But he'd always been more of a morning bird, and he simply couldn't help it.

"Since you asked oh so nicely," he chided teasingly, handing the box over finally. He would let her eat and wake up a bit before launching into everything. He should have brought coffee, he thought absently, but it wasn't a habit he'd picked up yet (though he was starting to have a cup now and then) so it hadn't occurred to him.

He'd always been way too much a morning person. Though she might have been one once, too. It was hard to remember what she'd used to be like, sometimes. Now, her sleep was so out of sync with everything, done in snatches here and there, that it didn't seem to matter much, other than making her grow at him. "Too fucking charming," she muttered under her breath. she might have been charming once, too; she really didn't know anymore. These days, she tended to be grumpy, prone to instant mood swings. No one's fault but her own though.

She took the box with a smile just for him though, and picked something sweet to eat because the food in here was enough to kill most of the patients, at least in her opinion. Coffee would have been even better, but she'd forgive him the lapse this once, at least.

"What got you up so early?" she asked after she'd had at least half of a pastry and enough time to find the wisps of actual thoughts and put them together agian. "Or is this you headed home for the day?" The pastries said morning to her, yes, but that didn't mean that it was, or that he hadn't worked the night shift.

At her muttering, he merely smirked, not about to deny it. His charm was one of his best features after all, after his good looks. He might have gone through an awkward stage at some point, but at twenty-one years old, he'd long since grown out of it and was certainly still enjoying playing the field, as it were.

And that smile she sent him made it worth risking her ire waking her up so early.

"No, no, heading in shortly and wanted to see you before that. I heard an update about what they're going to do with you and wanted to tell you before the owl could get here," he explained, certain she would understand and appreciate that sentiment even though she was still more than a little messed up in the head from what Bellatrix and the others had done to her and had forced her to do.

He really had always had the most charm of anyone, aside from perhaps their father. It could make even her soften when she was angry, and hat was saying something. though of course realizing it could often piss her off again.

Her smiled faded into a rather blank expression. Not resting bitch face, no. Because that required some sort of animation about the eyes. No, this was much closer to dead or imperiused. Detached was probably the tamest word for it. It wasn't his fault. It was a fact of her life that she would be tried for the crimes she did, no matter that she'd never actually wanted to do those sorts of things.

"Oh," she said. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate him telling her. She did, very much. Much better him than someone else. It was that she was deep down terrified of what was going to happen to her, no matter how many morbid or dark jokes she made about her fate. She made an effort, because it was him, to resurrect one of those jokes now. "I suppose I need to send out save the date cards, then."

Oh how he hated when her expression would shutter so thoroughly, when it appeared there was no light or life left in her. He had to believe it wasn't true, that she could heal--in time--from what she'd gone through in the war, that they all could. He wished he could have avoided telling her what brought him out so early, but she knew him too well to accept an evasion or deflection.

He snorted at her joke, despite how flat its delivery was. "It's not as though you'll be executed, lovey," he pointed out dryly. "They've just set a day and time for your trial. It'll be the seventeenth." A week's notice wasn't bad, really, especially since they'd all known it was coming. "And you know I kept thorough documentation and reports of your intel. I can't guarantee you'll get off scot-free, but I don't think it's going to go poorly."

After the first time she'd sneaked away from their deranged aunt and sought him out, he'd talked to his dad and come up with a plan, a way to protect Dora should this exact scenario come about. He wasn't going to just roll over and let his sister be put away and punished from protecting their family and doing everything she could to destroy the dark from within.

She made a skeptical, scoffing sound in her throat but didn't contradict him with words. The fact that she had very little faith in any system anymore was not unknown. Nor that she expected to be punished. Perhaps it was the guilt that she carried with her, in her, heavy and oppressive. There were times she thought she deserved to die. Besides, she knew if it weren't for him, for her mother and her father, she would be being treated far worse than she had been here. No one dared do or say too much with her connections.

"Ah, a week," she said, acknowledging the date for his benefit. "I don't expect to get off without punishment." She both wanted to and not, that guilt again. If somehow she did, she'd probably end up punishing herself. Not that she wouldn't do that anyway.

She took a deep breath, though, picking desultorily at her pastry now, eating the tiny bites she picked off of it with fingers that trembled sometimes. "I know, and I appreciate all the records you kept, even i I didn't manage much of anything."

Considering how well he knew her, he was well aware that regardless of how her trial went next week, she would likely be punishing herself for a very long time, no matter how much those who knew her best reassured her that she needn't do so. She hadn't chosen to do any of the reprehensible things she'd done in the war, she'd been forced into it and resisted as much as she could, and he'd be damned if anyone didn't realize that, even Pandora herself.

Hyperion did wish that he could have waited and let her enjoy the pastry a bit more, but it was what it was, and he did his best to shake the thought off. "Don't say that love. You did more than you realize." At least twice that he knew of, the intel she'd given him had helped the light, though it could have been more than that. It wasn't like he'd been kept tightly in the loop.

Quickly and without warning, he leaned forward and snagged one of the pastries out of the box and took a large bite out of it, smirking at her around the bite in an attempt to diffuse some of the dark mood that had fallen in the room.

She shrugged. Though some days she'd be perfectly happy to pick a row with him (the guards hated it, which only increased her pleasure in fighting with her brother), she didn't feel like it at this very moment. She popped the last of the pastry into her mouth, chewing it as if her mouth were full and so would give her an excuse not to speak.

She snorted as he snatched a pastry, recognizing the tactic but not pushing away the effort as sometimes she did. "You're going to choke yourself someday," she said dryly. "That big mouth of yours is going to get you in trouble. Though I'm certain it already does," she added with a hint of a smirk.
