It's a good day in Austin. The sun is shining, and the skies over downtown are finally clear of the caustic gas for good. Thanks to the official representatives of the United States government, the city is in the process of being reintroduced into the fold of society, like wayward cattle brought back inside the corral. The heat is keeping the dead drowsy and slow. It's also making them reek like all hell, but that's just fine. At least you can smell 'em coming a mile away. It's a perfect day to leave the safe house. Yes, today the wasteland is your oyster.

Maybe you'll even make it back alive.

Even if you don't, it's alright. Joining the dead doesn't seem so bad. They've always got plenty of fresh meat, and they seem super eager to welcome newcomers. So enjoy this perfect day while you can. It just might be your last.

REMAINS is an RPG based out of a post-apocalyptic Austin, Texas in the year 2019. After an aggressive virus went pandemic and turned most of the human race into mindless, flesh eating zombies, the people of Austin -- led by egocentric, power-hungry despot Mayor Reeves Olinger -- forged their own society, unaware of the world outside.

After nearly three years of Mayor Olinger's totalitarian regime -- living in a broken city made nearly inhospitable thanks to the U.S. Government's well-intentioned blister agents, dropped in 2016, and Olinger's disregard for the lives of those outside his inner circle -- the U.S. Government has stepped in. But is Austin ready to go back to normal -- or what counts for normal these days? How do you keep your own humanity in a society rife with corruption, lawlessness, and flesh-eating zombies? And what do you do when everything you know is revealed to be a lie?
