Rutherford's plan to bring sights and stories from around the world into the living rooms and onto the coffee tables of American households took shape in the form of Compass, a monthly magazine that was first published in 1907. In 1999 publication was reduced to a quarterly issue to focus on the expansion of the magazine's digital and multimedia presence.
