WHO: John Dawlish | Terry Boot WHERE: The Black Lake WHEN: Saturday afternoon WHAT: Dawlish spends his 'off duty' time down by the lake--though he is never really off duty. RATING: PG STATUS: In progress | OPEN
His father's health on his mind, Dawlish stopped by the owlery to send a request to the Ministry in case he needed an emergency leave of absence. He swallowed hard as he watched the owl fly away, letting out a deep sigh.
Understanding the reasons his parents wished him to lead a less dangerous life, Dawlish could not help but justify his father's current condition as having nothing to do with his career as a muggle police officer--though the fact that his father lost an arm in the line of duty was something Dawlish was made well aware of during his training. The Ministry was not shy in educating aurors about the possibilities.
As he approached the lake, Dawlish stared at the water. He sat on a bench near the edge and pulled out a book. His mind focused on other things, mainly his father, and Dawlish leaned forward onto his knees. The book hung loosely in his hands as he looked at nothing in particular. Dawlish appeared and felt distracted, something an auror should not allow themselves to feel. The Ministry was well aware of his situation regarding his father. Hugh always frowned upon his son's choice to be an auror, which meant Dawlish struggled with having a decent relationship with his parents. He must have heard 'I wish you did something else with your life' every time he came into contact with them.
Sighing, Dawlish ignored the book in his hand and simply looked out at the lake, nearly feeling at peace.
