Who: Lisa tagging Molly and Savannah
When: Early morning
Where: Lisa's room, Savannah's room, and Molly's room.
Lisa opened her eyes after a night of restful sleep, and immediately became aware that she was not where she was supposed to be. Jolted awake, she sat up in bed and looked around, only to see thousands of reflections of her own face looking back at her. She was in the Mirror Room. How the hell did I get back here? Sleepwalking? Surely not with a broken leg. A shiver ran down her spine. Someone or something had to have moved her here while she slept; the thought was terrifying. And if they could move her up several floors and tuck her into bed back in this room without waking her, what else could they do? She didn't want to think about it.
She tossed her covers aside and lowered her feet to the floor, and that's when she noticed the message engraved into its hardwood surface: Never forget me, for I gave you life. And then she noticed the handwritten note on the stand next to the bed: I put you where you were supposed to be. Love, Mother. She shivered again, and thought, Not MY mother. MY mother is almost surely back in Cincinnati. Or possibly in Atlanta, trying to clean up the mess I made. She imagined her parents' faces, and a tear ran down her cheek. She missed them so much; would she ever see them again? The more time went by, the less likely it seemed. She wished there was some way she could contact them, to tell them where she was and explain to them what had happened. But all they could know was what was in the news, and what the police told them. They didn't even have any way of knowing she had gotten on this ship. They probably saw news reports of "that new cruise ship that had gone missing in the Bermuda Triangle on its maiden voyage", and didn't think anything of it.
Lisa forced her thoughts back to the here-and-now. So the ship, or whatever entity was making this stuff happen, wanted to pretend it was her mother? Well, it seemed like it was going to get what it wanted one way or another, and besides, she couldn't keep referring to it as "the ship, or whatever entity was making this stuff happen". So "Mother" it was. Nevertheless, Lisa knew that "Mother" would never replace her real mother in her heart; she would always think of her real mother as "Mom".
Lisa reached for her crutches and went into the bathroom to wash up. She tried to ignore the fact that she was once again surrounded by mirrors. Her left eye was still black, though the swelling had gone down. She thought about how this bathroom wasn't as accessible for someone with a cast as Chelsea's room was. She wondered if Chelsea was OK. And Molly and Savannah. And Sean. Had they all been moved back? Had there been anymore disappearances? She started thinking about the nature of Mother, and it seemed like a thousand questions tumbled through her head. Could Mother be the ship itself, somehow having gained intelligence and the ability to perform magic? Could Mother be some kind of guardian angel sent to watch over them, or maybe some demon come to torment them? Would a "Father" show up at some point? Was Mother responsible for the sirens she had been hearing and the smell of blood? What had Mother done with the people that had disappeared? And what were Mother's plans for the rest of them?
After getting cleaned up, she dressed in a pair of white shorts and a pink blouse. She slipped her uncasted foot into a white flip-flop, and left her room to find out what had happened to her friends. The second door down the hallway was the room that Savannah and her sister Samantha had stayed in. Lisa knocked at that door, but got no answer. Lisa started to feel very alone. Two doors further down was Molly's room. Lisa moved down the hallway and stopped in front of Molly's door. She raised her hand to knock, but paused, thinking, What if she doesn't answer? It occurred to Lisa that she might be the only one left on the ship, but she quickly pushed that thought out of her mind; it was too horrible to contemplate. She knocked on Molly's door.
