"Right," sighed Nayan, covering his ear to block out the girl's words while he tried to listen to the emergency personnel on the other end of the line. It was nothing surprising. Everyone was to remain calm until the power was brought back on line at which point they'd be extracted from the elevator. Everyone was advised to sit tight and just wait it out until the power was restored, which he was assured would be within the hour. (He was also certain this was a lie by the bright nervous counter point in the man's tone.)
He hung up and turned back to Morgan and the blond girl, sighing and rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, it looks like we have to wait for the power to come back online. Unless someone has a pressing medical emergency there's no reason to risk an extraction. So we're sitting for now. It'll probably be a few hours though... are you okay?" Nayan's tone dropped on a note of concern.
The blond girl was staring at her phone with a look of abject horror, no doubt terrible were its contents to get a look like that. Nayan was legitimately worried.
