"Oh you would be surprised," said Nayan with a touch of cynicism that was mostly wry.
This morning had mostly been a flurry of frustration. He hadn't been able to sleep, as he'd predicted, because he was unused to sleeping in beds now, much less ones as luxurious as the Nausicaa's. This all morning he'd been bombarded with inscrutable phone messages telling him something was awry with Sacha's plan to meet him at land fall. He'd pretty much decided on this distraction because if he wasn't careful he was going to give himself a migraine over this foolishness.
"Yes. Uh, that's right. Sounds good," he said, nodded to her question. The girl who'd called his name was small and slender, peering at him with professional patience and a pair of very soft - but very alert - eyes that were no determined shade of blue-green. He gestured with one hand, put on a polite smile. "Lead the way."
