When Jacob dropped the little flyer he'd found about a gathering of Deaf passengers meeting at Thalia's, she was absolutely elated. She even dragged him along, considering he could sign just as well as she (or anyone else on board), mentioning the fact that he'd be a good catch for any pretty girls in need of someone who could actually 'listen' to them.
That was enough to persuade her brother.
They sat through the dinner, Lei having no trouble conveying her avid sociability once she didn't have the communication barrier to worry about. She tended to get excited meeting new people who didn't have that automatic caution in their eyes (the look everyone at the table knew all too well). She was even more talkative than her brother, who could barely get a word in due to his sister's energetic conversational skills.
As people dispersed afterward, Jacob smooched his sister on the cheek and indicated he was heading to the bar (Cult of Isis, no doubt), always indicating that she should 'be good' before he left. A sentiment sent right back to him as he left...
Looking much younger than she actually was (Lei often passed for a woman in her early twenties, if not younger), she popped the last french fry in her mouth and smiled around it toward Keyuri, who had organized the whole group. She dusted her palms off quickly before putting her hands to work, signing quickly over the table.
