An appreciative whistle escaped 'the piano man,' as he adjusted his sleeves and flexed his fingers in preparation to play. Flint had respect for people who appreciated music but he was practically in awe of people who were artists themselves. Whether she used the past tense or not, he suspected Lily fell into this category. Flint never really considered that he, too, could be considered a musician in his own right. It was just something he did, something he enjoyed.
His psychology training wasn't for nothing, though: he'd heard that she'd used the word 'wanted' instead of any present-tense verb and he wasn't the sort to push on that issue. Well. Not directly.
