Indeed, Lily completely missed Cary had started blushing, and simply kept on drinking her small cocktail. Maybe she should order another one, it was so...sweet.
Suddenly all the talk about femmes fatales of the film noir type got her thinking about the woman Drew had cheated on her with. She definitely acted and looked a lot more like a femme fatale than Lily ever would, despite the golden era glamor she knew she could exude. Her spirits faltered a little at the thought. "Yeah, that and leave any other woman who might have been good for him completely out of any sort of chance." She concluded, closing her eyes sadly for a moment before she looked away. "I'm never that woman, I'll never be that woman." Lily took a deep breath. "I don't think I'm interesting enough. It all comes down to it, being interesting, having complicated stories or something new and mysterious to offer, doesn't it?" She snickered, and downed the rest of her drink.
"Should've been born then, it's what I always say. But then I think about all the things frowned upon for women to do back then, and it sort of loses its appeal." The clothes and the overall lifestyle, however, certainly did not. "I suppose what I mean is I should've been born in an alternate reality where that kind of thing didn't happen then."
