Cary figured out early on why his family had sent him on this cruise, concern was the biggest reason. Which stemmed from his supreme lack of any sort of semblance of a life outside of work. His life had always centred around his family though and in turn work. He had to work to keep his family together both figuratively and literally, often working overtime to help his mother out. So this, him standing on the deck of a great ship was them telling him he needed to start thinking about himself, which was hard for Cary and so he stood a little awkwardly in front of the woman leaning against the rail.
