"I sort of wish it were the other way around. I'd gladly go barefoot for this view more often." She mused, looking out at the ocean with a smile. Lily had always thought she would be better off away from her family, for every reason, but she didn't realize just how much that was true until now. And this was only the first day.
To Lily, the silence wasn't entirely uncomfortable, because she enjoyed silence somewhat. Although, of course, after just having met someone there was no way it was completely comfortable either.
Having said that without thinking a lot about it, Lily realized only when Cary spoke that he could easily take what she had said the wrong way. With a nervous sort of smile, Lily lowered her gaze. "It is, isn't it? I'm sorry. I wasn't going to ask you why, really, I just...noticed." Lily nearly added that it was alright because she, too, felt a bit sad and wasn't keen on saying why, but then she chose not to say anything. Now she was finally completely uncomfortable. "I really don't mean to pry. I had no intention of asking, anyway." She repeated.
