Months of being locked up with and by Werewolves had given Bill a different perspective on the war. It had also forced him to reevaluate what mattered to him, what was important. Family, that was important. It was horrible that Fred died. It was honestly the most difficult thing the family had ever faced, and yet as ‘fine’ as they were? They weren’t fine. No one was fine and he was well aware of that. Each time George or Percy said they were fine, looking back, they weren’t. He should have been there, should have been better for them. Should have been there for them. It was a failing on his part that was thrown at him time and again as he thought about the danger, they were in without ever knowing.
Yes, they knew to be weary of the wolves, but they didn’t know the plans Voldemort had for them. Or at least had promised them for their loyalty. Bill had been told to go by one of the leaders before Shacklebolt took over, so he’d gone. It was a mistake he wouldn’t be repeating again. There was no hope for the wolves nor was there one that they would abandon their ‘cause’ to be rid of wizards that would hold them down. Never mind that even the Death Eaters held them as less than humans.
But that torture and that time was behind him. Now he was home, home with his wife who would, Merlin hoping, forgive him eventually. Even if she said she did, he still wouldn’t believe it. Being absent for months had to have been difficult and who was he to minimize that? That was why he was doing what he was now, pouring two glasses of wine and drawing her a bath. She needed to relax, and he was going to ensure she did.
Once done with what he’d been doing, Bill moved out into the main part of the home. “Fleur?” He called out, not seeing her right away. “I have a surprise for you, where are you?”
