The fight with Nyx had left Alastair feeling... wrong. Aggression and emotion he couldn't show in front of Delilah or Charlie started to boil up to the surface, so he excused himself to go for a 'walk'. Since agreeing to work things out with Charlie, Alastair still hadn't felt right. This fight with Nyx pushed him further to believing that no one found him trustworthy. And really, why should they? He had never been trustworthy in his life except with Nyx. Though, years of lying and deceit were bound to catch up with him. Now, unfortunately, was not the opportune time. Even lying in Charlie's bed, Alastair was feeling isolated and alone. He loved him, but he had come to realize that Charlie would never understand him. He didn't understand Alastair's need for physicality nor the rush of a fight. He would never fully grasp what was so appealing about using his bare hands to bring harm to something like the training dummy currently standing before him. No one had been around, which Alastair was grateful for. Pretending like he didn't know what he was doing was beginning to grow tiresome. Alastair needed a real fight. One he could win. He knew Rook and Bones were the only ones here matched in his skill, so he didn't feel bad losing to either of them. In particular Rook. Nyx had tried to pinpoint it, but Alastair refused to consider it as a valid possibility. He did not have a crush on Raleigh Bones. The prospect was maddening as it was. He had a boyfriend. He loved Charlie and his eyes were not beginning to wander. Instead of asking Rook to meet him downstairs, he decided to take his aggression out on the dummy. Inanimate objects couldn't tell secrets. He had spent the better part of 30 minutes simply beating on it, the bruising on his knuckles a souvenir from all the times he had done it before. As he spent more time with it, the more he was able to think, and the angrier he became. His movements became more fluid, easily recalling what Alexei taught him when they were young. When his knuckles began to go numb, Alastair danced backwards from the dummy, pulling a knife from his pocket and twirling it deftly in his hand for a moment. He tossed it into the air, caught it by the handle, and hurled it at the dummy. The satisfying thud that followed as it sunk directly into the dummy's forehead was enough to sate him for now. Sweaty, tired, and feeling just a little bit more relaxed, Alastair turned to leave and immediately stopped in his tracks. "How long have you been standing there?" he asked. |
