A look of mild surprise crossed Castiel's features at Meg's declaration, because it was not something that he'd put a lot of thought toward. Instead, he saw the loss of his grace and his status as an angel as now being placed in that position where he was simply human. He was no longer an angel and thus, could not be viewed in that manner. And, no matter how many times Meg referred to him as such, it didn't change that. But, hearing her say those words, that he was still an angel no matter what they took from him, it made that shy smile of his slowly creep along, because he felt like Meg had said something that completely changed his world. He might not have been seeking out his grace, because it was unlikely he would be able to reach it here, but knowing she thought he'd always be an angel, it made a difference.
"I suppose I never thought of it like that. And all this time, I've thought of how no longer having my grace, it took that away from me. That I was now within the same realm as the rest of the human race." And it wasn't uncommon, he thought, for him to think like that, but she had a point. He'd always, deep down, be an angel. It was what he'd been for so long now and he wouldn't have that erased simply because he no longer held the ability to zap from place to place on a whim, smite, heal others or even carry an angel sword.
He chewed thoughtfully after cutting a piece of the meat, seeming to savor the taste for a moment and looked to her with a quick nod. "It is. At least, it tastes fine to me, although it's the first time I've had meat prepared like this." Because he was slowly opening himself up to other foods, he was beginning to learn what the various tastes of items were and this, while it had only been slightly burnt, still held the flavor that it was meant to and wasn't too chewy, to make it difficult for him to enjoy.
