He thought those were her reasons for being there? He thought she was just trying to keep him safe? He'd accused her of her feelings, cornered her, and yet he still seemed to think that the only reason she would stay with him was because she was taking care of him. How could he be so obtuse? They truly were a pair. She couldn't handle his feelings for her and he couldn't seem to see hers for what they really were.
"I"m here because I love you, you asshole," she shouted at top volume.
Her mouth dropped open as she realized what she'd just said. She shook her head ever so slightly, as though by denying it had happened she could somehow take it back. She took two shaky steps backwards away from him, ready to run again. And this time she knew she would not be coming back. This was beyond too much for her to deal with. If he knew, if she'd just told him, she'd ever been more vulnerable in her life. For a split second, she even considered abandoning her body completely, but she wasn't sure this place would let her. Besides where would she go from there? Going back to Hell was no on the options list. Possessing someone else certainly wouldn't gain her any favors. No, she was going to have to do this the old fashioned way. She turned on her heel, ready to sprint if she had to. She wasn't sure how well that was going to work out, but, aside from the nagging fatigue, she was feeling far too sober at the moment for her taste.
