"Interesting. I was unaware of whether or not demons could even get drunk," he commented after a moment, because he had no idea what to say to that. It turned out Meg had chosen to imbibe copious amounts of alcohol over the course of the past week and it reminded him that he had thought of the same. He was fairly certain she loved him in return, even if she didn't say the words out loud, but this told him she'd been as much a state as he'd been in, during her absence. He'd missed her presence, on having her there with him as often as he did and she'd said as such when he first came upon her. He didn't understand why, if she felt that way, she would distance herself from him for so long. Humans weren't the only confusing beings, so it seemed.
Even with the stink of alcohol on her, Castiel allowed himself to be drawn in by her. Meg didn't allow him this close, not without proper reason and provocation for it. He wasn't entirely certain of her reasoning at this moment, but it comforted him all the same. He felt the warmth of her against his body and instantly felt just the slightest hint of calm run over him. It was a feeling he held on to as he tried to focus on holding her, just for a little while, because he knew it would be a fleeting moment once she had her wits about her and she withdrew from his touch once more.
Immediately, Castiel was shaking his head, because 'sorry' wasn't something he heard often from anyone, it was something he said, more often than not, and he knew that what he felt for her and what she felt in return was complicated. It was not easy for either of them, especially Meg. He was now a human and had human emotions. They were foreign, yes, something to get used to, but they didn't rebel against him like he was certain the things she felt rebelled against her, thanks to her being a demon. When he'd been an angel he could say similarly.
"You came back," he stated simply, as he stared at her for a moment. "You could have stayed gone, but you came back. An apology isn't needed."
