Between her snapping at him and her pulling away from his touch, Castiel held his hands at a fair length away from her, just to ensure he didn't find another reason for her to lash out at him. He'd tried to be as careful about his attempts to touch her, but it appeared he was not as careful as he thought he'd been. And right now, he wanted to keep her from running off on him like she had over a week ago. This was new, something different for Castiel and he couldn't claim he had any idea how to act, to make her stay. He was making his best guess at this and for all he was aware of, he was making her want to run away from him even more than she already had. But this didn't phase him, seeing her like this. He'd been in this state before, as point of fact. He was just curious about why she'd gone on a bender. He had no idea it was because of how she'd left him the morning after he made love to her.
When she fell back against him, he was slow as he reached out to touch her gingerly, to keep her balanced and as upright as possible. Had she fallen in the opposite direction, she could have fallen into the pool and he was trying to avoid that from happening. He didn't speak, just allowed her to formulate thoughts and words on her own time.
"Have you been drinking this whole time?" While she supplied the fact she'd been kicked out this morning, that didn't paint too large a picture of her drinking for the whole of this past week. She could have started recently, over the last couple of days for all he knew and he was trying to understand how long she'd been like this. "I.. yes. Thank you, Meg." He answered after a moment, his words coming out with a hint of stammering, because he had no idea how to respond to that. She'd made favorable comments about his appearance in the past, but he was still hopeless when it came to how to take it.
