The cold that Castiel had been struck with couldn't have occurred at a better time. With the storm, it made it easier for him to stay holed up in Meg's home, with no need to go back to his apartment and figure out how to fend for himself. He could have taken the supplies that Meg retrieved from in town and figured out what to do with it all, if it had come to that, but instead Meg stayed at his side. She watched over him, carefully and, he knew as calmly as she possibly could. There were times he was certain he was trying her patience and those were also times where he found himself with a new dose of the liquid that was meant to taste like cherries. He was still unsure of whoever thought it really tasted like cherries might be, but whoever they were he would like to have a talk with them at length about the issue of their taste buds.
The storm made it easier for him to sleep, the sound of the rain and the wind, it created a lull that allowed him to drift, but he also was attuned to Meg's presence. Having her there, it made him feel that sense of safety and security, as strange as that may sound. He knew no harm would come to him and she wouldn't allow for him to fall prey to any of the warnings on the boxes of the various items he was currently being treated with. He'd made the mistake of reading one of them and was curious as to how they created those side effects when they were meant to cure his current illness.
But, he couldn't sleep forever. Or, if he did it would prove most problematic because he would surely die. And, with all the sleep he'd been getting as of late, it was difficult to retain slumber without it making him restless when he should, in fact, be sleeping. It was only by chance that he reacted when Meg was going for the door to take her leave of him, for reasons unknown.
"You don't have to leave. I am awake now," he told her in a sleep-filled, groggy tone, as he shoved at some of the blankets he'd been tucked into. He was certain that her current role of care taker and observer wasn't terribly interesting, but he hoped that it didn't make her too restless.
