He was calling for her. Again. Meg put both hands over her ears and bit down on her lip to keep from groaning out loud. She tasted blood. With every passing hour she was getting closer and closer to accepting Severus's offer of help and pouring whatever potion the man could come up with down Castiel's throat. If she'd known he was going to be this pathetically needy, she would have left him at his apartment to fend for himself. But no, that wasn't entirely true. If he was this bad with her sitting just one room away she couldn't even fathom what he would be like with no one to help him. From what she understood about humans, it was very difficult for a healthy, adult male to die from the common cold, but if anyone could manage it, it was probably Cas. She could just imagine him, bumbling around his apartment, lost and confused in his own body, and her heart softened just a touch.
Unfolding herself from the couch, she grabbed the few items she'd managed to gather from her coffee table. A quick stop at the local drug store and a rather confusing conversation with the pharmacist regarding his symptoms and what she should do for him (she was only slightly more aware of what a cold entailed than he was), she'd walked out with a thermometer, a couple different decongestants, some nose spray that she had no intention of attempting to use on him, Nyquil, cough drops, and Vic's vapo rub. She'd been told to rub it on his chest, but the act felt a little too intimate to her, so she yet to suggest it to him. A second stop at a grocery store had provided her with soup in several varieties.
As she entered the bedroom, she couldn't decide if she was more annoyed or amused by him. He had made a fairly adorable nest amongst her blankets and pillows. At least they were getting some use. He looked sweaty and unhappy, and she felt slightly more sympathetic. When she'd taken care of him in the hospital, it had been fairly easy. Just stay and watch. This was so much more active.
"What hurts most?" she asked with a sigh, not entirely sure how to even begin treating him.
