"Oh," she said simply. Part of her felt the tiniest hint of disappointment. She'd thought, for just a moment, despite her jibes, that maybe he'd been on his way to see her. He'd come to her once, already, after all. Maybe he'd missed her. Maybe. But no...he hadn't been coming to see her. He'd been going out to see others, to learn to be human, which was only right. That's what he was now, and it was something she couldn't remember how to be. Her expression fell slightly and she turned her face away so that he hopefully wouldn't see it.
Clearly he was fine. She'd checked on him, he was fine. She could go back home now, to the only place that was really safe for her, and bury her head in the pillow he'd used and try to distance herself from him. Again. It was the logical thing to do, and she had every intention of being absolutely logical. The fact that she'd even left the house burned her now. She was acting like a child experiencing their first crush and she hated herself for it. Particularly since he couldn't be expected to react in kind.
"Well, if you're fine, I'm just...heading home," she mumbled, turning away from him. "You don't need anything?" she asked over her shoulder, just to be sure. If he needed food or quarters for the washing machine or any ridiculously human thing, she was almost the only person who could help him with that. She wouldn't leave him without the help he so badly needed, no matter how much she wanted to retreat.
