Meg stood, her aggressive posture relaxing. His words were a balm to her bruised ego, though she hated to admit it. His body, so typically male, was easy to anticipate. His mind though? There was no way she'd ever be able to anticipate that. She took a few steps closer to him, not close enough to touch him, but closer than typically necessary for simple conversation. She tilted her head back to look up at him and smiled. Standing this close to him, his physical presence was overwhelming in a purely human fashion. He was so much taller than her, so very...there. It made her human body react in the strangest ways, almost like a thin current of electricity were running across her skin. It was not an unpleasant sensation.
"Not everything is about sex," she said, a tiny bit surprised at herself for saying it to him. "Of course, most of the best things are," she added, raising an eyebrow at him. "There are things I could do to that body of yours that would leave you begging for more. But, I won't, cause you're not ready. Besides, sometimes it's nice to be a little less obvious. Maybe you should spend less time watching porn and more time watching old movies. Casablanca. Breakfast at Tiffany's..."
She made a private decision in that moment. She' put herself too far out. She'd made her interest far too clear. Not her sexual interest, no. That had been a given practically from the moment they'd met. No, it was her interest in him as a person that had to be guarded more closely. She knew, in that moment, that she wouldn't kiss him again, wouldn't touch him in anything more than passing, until he made a move. If they were ever going to connect again, he would have to be the one to initiate it. She would keep herself safer that way, by waiting, and watching. She knew it was time to back off, to step away from him, but she stayed just a moment longer, enjoying the closeness. An unconscious little smile touched the corners of her mouth, soft and unassuming.
