Ariel looked at the top of the nightstand. It was pretty clear where the phone should have been but obviously wasn't. He pulled the nightstand out to check behind it but again, nothing. Even as Amadeus started calling the number, Ariel checked around the furniture for anything - most likely blinking lights from messages left behind... But nothing.
And no sound of ringing or the wrrr-wrrr of silent mode. Without a word, he stepped out of the bedroom and into the main hall, leaving his own trail of bloodied footprints. His head tilted slightly - in a canine, it was similar to pricking up an ear to hear better. He walked, pausing by each doorway throughout the house to listen but every time, there was--"Nothing. It's not here."
Backtracking, he went into the home office as suggested and started digging around. A few unimportant things went into his pockets - Alex wasn't exactly going to be using them anymore. But at the same time, he was looking for that appointment book. Just in case. They didn't need to widen their suspect pool but maybe there'd be something in there to hint towards the why.
