Amadeus raised an eyebrow as he noted Rhys' reaction to the blood but didn't comment on it. It was the same reaction Amadeus himself would have been having it he were drinking bag blooded straight from the fridge or even at room temperature. He really had to get the boy out and into the world to feed before the Capri Suns of the Kindred world became all that knew and wanted.
"Yes. I'm afraid that ours is a blood-drenched world more than any other Kindred. In order to cast spells it takes twisting our own Blood, sometimes drawing that Blood, and sometimes it takes the blood of another. All of which requires consuming more blood than other Kindred. It's the price we pay for power and keeping the Beast at bay," Amadeus explained. "And fresher is always better."
It was part of why the Tremere were so careful with who they sired into the clan. It wouldn't do to sire someone who was squeamish about the idea of blood or who at least had a thirst for knowledge or power that would cause them to overcome that. The ones who stayed squeamish never got very far or ended up being overtaken by their Beast due to pushing their hunger too far.
"You'll want to start thinking about the things that tie you to the life you once knew. The things that remind you of your humanity because you'll need at least one of those things to hang on to. We're one of the clans that tend to lose touch with our humanity rather quickly even when we keep our hunger under control."
