Sheriff Lazarus
Prince Carlyle
The Details WHO. Amadeus Lazarus & Lucian Carlyle
WHERE. The Ivory Tower
WHEN. Oct 29, Early Night
WARNINGS. None
STATUS. Complete
A quick chat between the Sheriff and Prince in regards to replacing the Keeper of Elysium.
Maybe it's time the Roses Wither.
Lucian was standing in front of the large windows of his office that overlooked the city of New York with his hands tucked behind his back, ever the picture of a true Ventrue overlooking his kingdom. His kingdom that was so quickly spiraling into so much chaos. Five short years was all that it had taken to start splitting apart. He wasn't even sure who to blame. It would be so much easier if he had somewhere else to shift it over than on to himself.

Because not everything that was happening could be the result of a single decision could it? No, he refused to believe that.

Or believe that that refusal to believe otherwise might end up being his downfall.

Suddenly he wasn't alone. He wasn't surprised to turn to find Sheriff Lazarus lounging in one of the chairs like it was his office. Heaven Forbid the Tremere actually use the door.

"There is a thing called knocking," he pointed out blandly.

"Oh right, that silly thing." Amadeus lifted his hands and flicked his fingers twice so that a knocking sound echoed throughout the otherwise silent office. "Happy now?"

The things the Prince of New York had to put up with from his Sheriff. Most wouldn't. Most didn't have to. But one didn't themselves foolish enough to believe that a Tremere as powerful as Lazarus was under his control, Sheriff or not. Amadeus was no lapdog. Anyone thinking that was likely to get bitten.

"To what do I owe the joy of this unexpected visit," Lucian asked as he went to sit behind his desk and eye the elder Kindred.

"Keeper of Elysium, Lucian. You can't play around on this. We need a new Elysium and we need a Keeper who isn't going to need to hide behind my skirts to enforce the rules for them. I don't have time for that kind of shit when I have enough to deal with always," Amadeus pointed out.

"Who are you suggesting?"

Amadeus raised an eyebrow at that. He hadn't come here with an political moves in mind, simply to kick Carlyle's ass into gear on it all considering he seemed content to let it linger. "Whether he is interested or not, the smartest move is to offer it Ash Turner. After that—'' Amadeus spread his hands out in front of him as he had no other suggestions. "Isn't this what your seneschal is for?"

Of course they both knew that his seneschal didn't know the court nearly half as well as he should and Lucian had purposely kept it that way so that he didn't have to worry about him getting any ideas about replacing him.

"There's Garnet Winters but she's nothing but a babe and like I said, I prefer a Keeper who's not going to have to hide behind me to be the thing that scares everyone else into behaving. Start with Ash to avoid insulting him any farther. Then if you have to, start looking outside of the Toreadors. Maybe their time of holding a bit of the city as came to an end if you can't find one who can, or will, do the job," Amadeus suggested before he finally got up and straightened out his jacket.

"After all, not one ever said it has to be a Toreador who is Keeper."
