The last month had just been awful for everyone. Joseph had decided to just cancel the last full week of the show, because his retinue was just as demoralized and frustrated as their master.
Right now, they were at least being distracted by getting ready for the yearly one night showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was an informal thing, more for his retinue to have a good time while he attended the Toreador's party than any ticket revenue. The movie on a screen while they threw props at the screen and shouting the audience participation at it. A group of them always acted out the parts on the stage as well. But anyone brave enough to join in the raucous party was welcome and it had rather a reputation New York of being one of the most 'authentic' experiences to be found in the city. After the ordeal they'd been through and mood their master and his lover had been in, they deserved to cut loose a little.
Joseph scoffed at Rhys' recitation of the ridiculous invitation. It was more than the loss of Anastasia and the others who'd died from the fire. The loss of Elysium and the fact they had no idea who'd destroyed it and were without a sanctuary was just as much of a frustration. It was all bad and there wasn't a blood thing to do about it. It was maddening.
Sprawling across Rhys' legs, Joseph let out a soft growl. "If it wouldn't make the Toreador primogen snub me for a bloody decade, I'd just stay home," he grumbled. "At least I'll have you. I'll spend the entire night keeping you out of groping reach of the Roses. So at least we won't be bored."
Joseph couldn't help but smirk pettily about that. Rhys was breathtakingly beautiful. Garnet had noticed immediately and he'd noticed no few of the Toreador at the memorial eyeing his lover. They would be much more forward at the party. Hopefully the young Tremere would realize Joseph wasn't really joking about that part.
