Amadeus wished that he could say that he was surprised by some of it but he couldn't. Lucian was too new—and too young—of a Prince to be beloved by everyone. That and Amadeus had seen enough Princes rise and fail, had even made some fall himself back in his day, to know that no Prince was ever completely loved.
The fact that Lucian had gone behind the Primogen Council's backs to get the new network up though? That was too risky a move for such a new Prince. It may have bought him the love of the Kindred as a whole, but it never did well to step on the toes of the Primogens. Amadeus frowned. "Well, no wonder Sethius was crankier than normal when I had to talk to him the other day and had brought up the Prince." The Tremere didn't spend enough time within the chantry to know what his own Primogen and clan were thinking of this. "So it was likely an attack to show that the Network was not as secure as Caldwell and Carlyle are saying it is. That it's as open to attacks as the old one." And if it got out then it's exactly what people would be thinking. "Is it bad that I'm now hoping it was just out of spite?"
