Aftermath: Amadeus & Ariel
"Could've fooled me," he muttered bitterly. If Amadeus had asked him the question, in turn, Ariel would have said he would be fine. He could have never imagined falling as deeply as he had nor the horror he would experience like he had tonight. Fighting an enemy was one thing - one couldn't really fight fire. It destroyed so quickly especially when you were essentially walking, talking kindling.
"They are quite impressive," there was no humor in his voice - it wasn't even an attempt at levity because he couldn't manage it. "I haven't even asked if you're hurt yet," they both knew he wouldn't be able to handle an affirmative answer but he hoped Amadeus wouldn't lie to him.
