Aftermath: Amadeus & Ariel
Ariel wasn't wrong. Not only had his lover became a new tether to what humanity Amadeus had left, but also the only one able leash him when he or his beast got out of hand. It would be am ugly thing if he ever lost that that.
That was fair. Amadeus couldn't imagine if the roles had been reversed and he had to watch Ariel walk into a burning building. He didn't need to look up at his lover's eyes to see the fear there. By now he was too adept at reading the tensions in his body. "I told you I'd be back." Amadeus moved up from Ariel's wrist and kissed the back of his fingers, over the ring he had put on Ariel's finger. Over the promise he had placed there when he did. Then he shifted so that he could looked Ariel in the eyes. "I promised I'd never leave you. That includes me dying."
