It still did not change the fact of the matter that it had happened.
Or that they had lost so much.
It made for angry Anarchs who had already been railed up. And that’s just what he needed. It was easier to stir the ramble when the ramble was already upset. The fact that this bunch of Anarchs had to move on was okay. He knew what cracks and holes they used to hide in. He should considering he was one of them that forced them to flee into them like cockroaches.
“What the fuck do you want,” came the question as the former Sheriff of New York walked into one such hole. The one who had killed more Anarchs then the current one ever had. The one who knew there were different types of Anarchs and knew just which ones were the type that were willing to take things a little too far if they were pushed.
He very much planned to push.
The former Sheriff held his hands out in front of him as a gesture of ‘I mean no harm’. Which he didn’t. Not in that manner anyway. No, there were other ways to hurt. “I’m not here to start trouble. The enemy of my enemy and all that. I think we have something in common.”
“Since when?”
“Since we’ve all found ourselves with nothing but broken promises from the Camarilla.”
“Says the one who is part of the reason we leave like this. Stuck to the fringes of society in the worst parts of the city because no one else wants them, including us, but what choice do we have. Any time we stepped out of them you were all too happy to put us back—or worse,” one of the Anarchs pointed out.
The former Sheriff was ready for that. “All at the behest of the Prince.”
“And now there’s a new Prince. One that got rid of you. Why’s that ya think?”
“Because Lucian Carlyle is a fool who let a Tremere suck him in. He’s also a fool who tells pretty lies. Did he not say that things would get better for the Anarchs? That you all would be treated more equally than in the past? Yet who are the ones who are currently suffering from these attacks? The Camarilla suffered a couple near misses. What of the Anarchs? One of your Elysium's raided. Your people killed or taken. And what’s been done about it by the Camarilla? Nothing. Why do you think that is?”
They all knew the answer to that one. It was because they were Anarchs and the Camarilla never would care about them. The old ways would always stay in place and if a few Anarchs died because they refused to toe the company line that was fine. It was especially fine if it meant that all attention was on them and not the Camarilla. The Camarilla would not care unless it endangered their precious Masquerade.
There was quiet and then one asked, “Alright, we’re listening. What did you have in mind?” After all it couldn't hurt to at least hear him out could it? And some of them, well, some of them had lost a lot in that raid while the former Sheriff was right. What had the Camarilla lost so far? Nothing.
The former Sheriff fought not to grin as he settled in to discuss just what it was he had in mind.
