That answer being so quick took him a bit off guard. Every time he expected something with Joseph it was different or not what he thought it would be. The rest? He was left speechless. If all of that were true, a lot of things made sense all at once.
And then came an emotion that he didn't quite like. Leaning forward, he pressed his forehead into the other man's, closing his eyes. "I let myself think..." But he didn't know, he couldn't have known anything about that. He wasn't going to apologize again, he knew what that would bring him in response.
Pulling his hands from the back of Joseph's neck, he pulled them forward to hold his face between them. "I think... I'd like to stay." It wasn't the first time he had said that to him, and maybe it wouldn't be the last, but it was how he felt.
