His fingers stretched up from his thighs as Joseph spoke on the trust that Mab had showed him that night. There hadn't been much thought over that kind of reasoning. More that he'd be in a room full of vampires. Maybe it wasn't just the trust that he had shown her, but the level that was being returned. For the last bit, he looked down at his fingers, unable to really look him in the face for a moment. There was something akin to embarrassment blossoming in his chest right now and he had to fight it down.
What did he say to something like that? "She knew I'd try to go straight home... rather than stay in a space like this." Then again, that also took some type of trust. Knowing he'd make it home without doing something that would bring to light what he was. Or, there was the possibility that she was a busy woman and thought leaving him to socialize when he had almost no skills in such a thing hilarious. Which, outside, it probably was.
"It's hard not to be." Again, his green eyes rose to the other man's face, and though he smiled a little, there was a bit of a serious look to his eyes.
