Him?? Well, that only made sense. It was to teach him how to do it, not for Mab. He could do it, he just had to remember to have some sort of backbone. That was easier said than done but if he could do it, maybe he wasn't just a waste of an embrace like he'd been convincing himself lately.
There was only a moment of hesitation but finally Rhys nodded and stood up, swallowing hard. Pulling his hands apart, he did just as he was told, letting that tingling feeling gather in his hand, holding it there as he approached her from the side. It was easy to not have his face seen in the dark, hood pulled over his hair. He could do this.
Touching the side of her face, he whispered to her and for a moment, nothing happened. Fear filled him in that split second before she was sliding into his arms, green eyes wide as she almost collapsed against him. He'd done it. He didn't really need to be told what to do next but Mab was there, close by in case. The slowed sound of her heart was enough bait for him, fangs making quick holes in her throat.
