There was no stifling the delicate shiver that nail gave her, Garnet giggling as soon as it ended. Though they weren't close in age, she knew that Claudia understood many things about being her. What it was like being a woman left by a man that had promised the stars. It also helped that their sires had known each other, had even been friends. They had known the other man and was easily able to make fun of them now. Now that it didn't hurt as much.
"Do ghosts always smell so bad?" Honestly, having her best friend there was a boost of courage. Sure, haunted building wouldn't hurt her and she wasn't all that scared, but the younger woman wouldn't have gone down there by herself. There had been another something on her tongue when Claudia spoke again, making her stop short on the last step behind her. Yeah, she smelled something.
"I don't think we should turn on that light, my darling." Normally, her voice would have been full of warmth but there was something down here, in this basement, that wasn't alive but not a spirit. Even though she had advocated for the light not being flipped on to give them an idea of where that smell was coming from, Garnet took that final step and reached over the other woman's hand to do just that, freezing on the spot with what was given up to the electric buzzing that suddenly filled the space.
That poor creature... Maybe if she had a gag reflex, she might have lost her dinner.
