Rook's body gave a shudder again as he continued to hold on to Ash like if he let go he'd slip away back into the wolf. As it was he wanted to shift, escape into the raven, into the safety of it. It was only Ash's touch and words that kept him from doing so, that kept him there as a man. He knew if he gave into the urge to escape into the raven he'd flew away and he wasn't sure how long he'd hide away in it.
Instead he allowed himself to give a series of clicks and deep coos that no human throat could make in wonder to comfort himself and remind himself of the raven and not the wolf while Ash talked to him. When he finally felt himself capable of human speech once more, Rook finally left his head up so that he could look at Ash. "You seemed to be doing pretty well without me." But the need to protect Ash had been there all the same.
