"It's—it's the part that is giving me hesitation," Rook admitted. "He seems so different than others of his clan but what if after he just—leaves me." That was part of the reason a raven courted a mate, to make sure they worked, but there were no guarantees, especially with a Toreador.
Rook leaned his head against Mab. "This would be easier if I was more man than raven in nature when it came to such things." As it was Mab was the only one he had ever had that trust or desire to be with in that way, mostly because of the bond he had formed with her in those early days. Not a mate bond, but enough of one that she had been able to show him those other aspects of what it meant to be a man and still enjoy each other from time to time.
"I'm going to explain. He may not even be interested or want me after I do." Which he supposed was better before his raven heart got to set on this being the one it just had to court.
