Noah and Dan
Who: Noah, Dan, open to Journal staff
When: Tuesday, just after 5.30pm.
Where: Journal apartment building.
What: It's time Noah faced the inevitable
Status: Open to Journal staff
Noah paced the perimeter of the apartment's living room once more. He checked out of the window then kicked half-heartedly at the skirting, keeping his hands in his pockets.
Dan knew better than to rush his brother. This was a huge decision for Noah and, while he knew Dan was hoping for him to go for it, it had to be his decision. Noah didn't even like to concede going along with anyone else at the best of times, so something this important...
He sighed and spoke quietly without turning round.
"The cage can go in one've the bedrooms. This'll do for me to rest in after the Moons."
He looked round when he sensed Dan about to argue. "No cage, no deal. It moves in here or I stay at our place like normal. I'm only doin' this because it's easier for you since you insist on fussin' an' fixin' me instead've lettin' me get by alone."
Noah held Dan's gaze until Dan gave in with a nod. Noah grunted in satisfaction. "And I'll build it once it's here. I'll get Spence to help, an' Tawnie'll prob'ly wanna interfere too." He sounded gruff but his voice did soften as he smiled slightly. Then he remembered where he was and scowled again.
"Plus," he continued. "It's on the understandin' that this is just a trial period. Anythin' goes wrong, even if it's just in my head, then I go right on back. Nobody... an' I mean NOBODY comes in but you. We'll bring the dogs from the apartment so I can keep'm company an' they can do the same for me. Other'n that, I hear ANYONE come in then this whole deal's off. Soundproof wards're okay - you can do those when you do the regular ones."
Dan nodded again. Noah suspected he was being humored and his scowl deepened. "I mean it, Dan. You're my brother an' I love you, you know that. But this ain't for sharin', capiche?"
He waited until Dan replied verbally in the affirmative, then grunted again. "Okay. Now fuck off. You're on duty soon. Tell Spence I'll wanna speak to'm whenever he's got a minute. I'll go tell Tawnie the news."
Dan disappeared. Noah glanced around the room again. It did make sense, he knew it did. After all, he'd spent the Moon in a cage in the basement before Leena and Meena had gotten here. And it was only sensible that he be on the premises just in case something went wrong. The basement was out at the moment, naturally. He doubted the Wolf would be too pleased sharing the place with the Djinn. Then again, he pondered, maybe it would. After all, they were both destructive bastards.
The thought gave him no sense of comfort or amusement. But it did confirm that he was right to insist on his cage being brought here. He might have considered trusting just wards once upon a time, but not for a long time and especially not since the time McCloy had escaped. Cage AND wards. Couldn't be too safe.
